Your feedback needed: Elsevier e-books for review/purchase

Please help us choose some e-books!  We are participating in a try-before-you-buy plan for e-books from Elsevier Science.  Earlier this year, we deposited $6000 with the vendor to get access to 61 e-books published in 2009.  We have access to all of these books through the end of 2011.  At the end of 2011, the vendor provides us with data on how much each book was used, and we choose which books to purchase with our $6000.  We lose access to books that we don’t purchase.

So, we need your help.   Please look at this list of titles and let us know which ones are most useful to you.   You can give us feedback by leaving a comment on this post or emailing jcrum@coh.org.  Please feel free to use the books too; you can access them from our Online Journals, eBooks, etc. list.

These money making corporates should be kicked out of the academic journal business. They charge fortune for the journals which publish publicly funded research and are edited/reviewed by scientific community for free. They can ‘sell’ those journal for fraction of the cost.

My list got quite long and so I decided to list the numbers of those I think would be good to add to the collection. Here they are:

    4, 6, 12, 14, 40, 58, 59, 60, and 61.

Great to have this opportunity to provide opinions.

    Best, Marcia Miller
