Thanks to my former colleague Emily for posting about Retraction Watch on the Scholarly Communication @ OHSU blog. Retraction Watch, written by science writers Adam Marcus (managing editor of Anesthesiology News) and Ivan Oransky (executive editor of Reuters Health), tracks retractions of articles published in scientific journals. Like my colleague Emily, I am surprised to see how many retractions there are, including two papers by Nobel prizewinner Linda Buck. Retraction Watch is both fascinating and important, reminding us to think critically about everything we read, even when it appears in a prestigious journal.
