How to request a book chapter using ILLiad

April 23, 2013

Need a chapter from a book the library doesn’t own?  Or would you like an electronic copy of a chapter from a book the library owns in print?  Here’s how to request it:

  1. Go to the library web site and click ILLiad System and Photocopy, Scan, ILL Request Form under Key Links on the righthand side.
  2. If you haven’t used the system before, click the First Time Users link and follow the prompts to set up an account.  If you already have an account, log in.
  3. After logging in, click the Book Chapter link under New Request on the lefthand side as shown below (click image to enlarge):

book_chapter_request

  1. Enter bibliographic information about the chapter in the request form and click Submit Request.

Book chapters requested from another library are usually delivered electronically, similar to journal articles.  It usually takes about 1-3 days to get them.  As with other interlibrary loan requests, there is no charge for requesting a book chapter unless you want rush service.

If you have any questions about requesting a book chapter, please contact the library (library@coh.org; 626-301-8497 or x68497).
